To get things up and going I'm going to do a 31 days of Halloween feature! Every day in October I'll feature a Halloween mani done by yours truly!

Rainbow nails
Does it look like little rainbows shooting from my fingertips? Because that's what I was aiming for.
PEWPEW!
I used: Zoya Gia, Arizona, Pippa, Breezi, Meg, and Kieko. The clouds are sinful colors snow me white. I just free handed the stripes, I didn't see the point in using tape for something like this because it would've drawn out the time by hours, easily.
Anyway. Clean up was a pain witih the clouds. And now you see why my pointer finger never makes it into photos. She's so jacked up looking, lol.

CORAL SHOWDOWN.
L-R: Wet n Wild Blazed, Sinful Colors Island Coral, Butter London Trout Pout, Sally Hansen Coral Fever
I have a coral problem. They speak to my heart and are the perfect shade for my skin tone regardless of the season. I was going through my collection and noticed these four shades look super similar, so I swatched them on a nail wheel to see how they all compare to Trout Pout..and ... here we are!

WnW Blazed is more peach toned and darker than Trout Pout. Sally Hansen Coral Fever is also darker, but more pink toned.
Now, Sinful Colors Island Coral is a bit thin. That's three coats. I obviously didn't wait for any of these layers to dry so it looks like my nail wheel is melting. ANYWAY! Sinful Colors Island Coral, in my opinion, is a dupe for Butter London Trout Pout. Trout Pout has a much better formula. It's a bit thicker. That's two coats in the photo. But, ignoring the bald spots in Island Coral and the colors aren't that discernible!
If you want Trout Pout but don't to shell out $14 for it, go buy Sinful Colors Island Coral for .99 cents this week (regularly 1.99 at Walgreen's). The formula is different but the color is the same! I'm sitting here with my nail wheel right up to my face and I cannot see a difference.
Thoughts?
Intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic
I tried my hand at galaxy nails last night and can't say I was terribly successful...but it wasn't a huge fail, either. The pointer finger is the only one that really turned out so I took a separate photo of that one. I'm definitely going to be putting these back on the "try again" list. I didn't have a toothpick for my stars so they came out more like angry comets.
I used Sally Hansen Black Diamonds for my base and sponged on Zoya Creamy and Gia, Sinful Colors Snow me White, Nail Junkie, and Hottie, and Sally Hansen Loves me Not from the new 2012 Spring Runway Collection (WHICH IS AMAZING and I will be showing you this color alone later this week)

MEH. I did both hands but I can't really photograph both hands that well.

Nail Polish Jewelry
When I received Fantasy Fire, I did half a mani..realized she wasn't for me, and took her off. But I wanted something to remember her beauty by before I sent her on way to a new owner, and decided I would try my hand at nail polish jewelry. I'm really happy with the results and am very eager to make more. I'm thinking China Glaze Riveting and OPI rainbow connection will make fun jewelry.
First, I painted two coats of fantasy fire on the cabochon. Once those coats dried, I painted 3 coats of zoya raven. Here are the photos of fantasy fire:

I also did a necklace with Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. I painted 3 coats of Nail Junkie on the cabochon and then did 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme:
There are many tutorials on how to make nail polish jewlery. It's actually really self explanatory. I think most people are curious as to where to buy the cabochons and pendents. I bought mine here: http://www.sunandmooncraftkits.com/
Sun and Moon Crafts is FAST. I ordered Sunday night, was emailed an invoice Monday morning, Monday afternoon had a shipment notice and tracking info, and my items arrived Wednesday! I'm happy with the quality as well. I'm not quite sure the pendent is metal, but it isn't exactly plastic, either. Maybe it's just high quality plastic? I'm not sure, either way - great prices, fast shipping, good product.
When you order, remember to go and buy the chains for your necklaces you're making. You need to buy those separately. I almost forgot. :)

Nail Art: Owls
I love owls. I have this adorable little ceramic owl my mom bought me. It inspired this mani:

I used China Glaze For Audrey as the blue base, Sinful Colors Snow me White as the white.

St. Patrick's Day Mani
Here is my St. Patrick's Day Mani. That is supposed to be a rubber duck, haha. I submitted this to the Nouveau Cheap blog because she requested for St. Patrick's day manis.
The middle finger is Sinful Colors green ocean, a very colorful, green-blue flakie that comes out during the month of March. I'm not a huge fan of flakies, but I thought everyone might be interested in seeing this one. It retails for 1.99 and you can find it at Walgreen's. I used two coats.
The colors I used are....
Spoiled: Permission to Proceed
Zoya: Pippa
Wet n Wild: Black Creme
Spoiled: Correction Tape
OPI: A Good Man-Darin is Hard to Find
Sinful Colors: Green Ocean
China Glaze: Ga Ga for Green
L.A. Girl Glitter Addict: Synergy
I had not used Spoiled Permission to Proceed until I did this mani. To my surprise, it's a beautiful jelly, making the color very wearable. I love jellys, they're my favorite finish. Half the time, if you tell me a polish is a jelly I will buy it before I decide I like the color or not. It's the reason I bought Velvet Lounge by Megan Miller, and I rarely ever wear that color.
Here's a swatch of just Permission to Proceed. This is two coats. It definitely needs three or four for full opacity. Jellys are like that, but they're totally worth it. I only did two coats of this because I was planning nail art on top. Honestly, I have yet to meet a jelly I don't like.
OH SNAP I HAVE AN IDEA NOW!!

pastels
I love pastels. They're fun, happy, and remind me of spring, flowers, the light scent of rain. *sigh* Summer is almost here. I cannot wait to bask in the sun, splash in the pool, draw all over the sidewalk with chalk (er, with my daughter..of course) and get a wicked SAFE! tan :)
Here is my attempt at a pastel mani. I'm thinking I should've used Sally Hansen's Lacey Lilac on my thumb instead of Essie's Play Date, and maybe involved Zoya LuLu in this mani well:

Thumb: Essie Play Date
Pointer: Essie Absolutely Shore (the nail polish color that started my interest!)
Middle: Essie A-Crewed Interest
Ring: Sally Hansen Barracuda
Pinky: Sinful Colors Unicorn
Pastels win my heart over every time. The only downside to a pastel is it can be streaky and difficult to apply. I didn't have too many issues with any of these colors except for A-crewed Interest. That one needs to be applied in very thin coats. Sinful Colors Unicorn is 4 coats, the rest are 3 coats. Absolutely Shore is a smidge darker in person.
Barracuda is easily my favorite. :)
If you haven't heard yet, there is a new ZOYA promo happening: use the code SPRING3 - buy any 3 zoya polishes and get 3 free!Click here for the details. Unfortunately, I'm cash strapped so I cannot buy any right now but I have them in my cart, just in case my will is weak LOL. Loredana and Tobey.

Nail Art Dots
I love polka dots. If it has polka dots on it I will more than likely purchase it. I'm just a pattern type of person - damask, stripes, dots, houndstooth. I love them all. I tried to make my nail look like candy, but..I think I might've been better off using white as a base. Next time!

Color Club+Sinful Colors
This is a blue color club I bought in this pack. It didn't have a name, I'm still trying to find it. It's a pretty decent blue. It doesn't look that streaky, the light in the photo just makes it look that way. In person it's smooth and vivid. It's a nice royal blue.
I didn't like it on its own though, so I put Sinful Colors Hottie on top. Hottie is an amazing glitter that gives a semi-matte finish to your polish. It looks very space-age to me. I think Hottie would be the perfect polish to use for galaxy nails.

Sinful Colors: Snow me White
I keep raving about Sinful Colors Snow me White so I figured I would just post swatches of it. I love this white, it's my favorite. It's a nice, clean white that's opaque in 3 coats. The formula is decent, not too thick, not too thin. The brush is nice as well. I wish I purchased a back up bottle during the .99 cent sale but I didn't even think about it.

I highly recommend this white. At 1.99, I couldn't possible ask for more!
I'd like to thank everyone for entering the giveaway. I appreciate all of you and I do have 4 more planned in the future so I wish you all the best of luck. I love hearing your input, reading your hauls, and looking at your manicures.
I have no idea why my format is so wonky right now. Also...I forgot your Sunday Funny, so here! :D

The Vikings
It isn't nail art saturday, but who cares! Maybe it's Striped Sunday. This is my first try at a tape manicure and while I am not entirely pleased with how it came out, I definitely learned a lot:
1. Do something to protect cuticles to prevent lots of cuticle flooding
2. Don't do nail art when your toddler is in "helpful" mode.
3. Use a better base color
I live in the mid-west. The closest decent football team is the Vikings, so here is my...Viking manicure! They're not my favorite team at all. My favorite team is THE SAINTS! I'll be doing a Saints Mani soon, and with baseball coming up, I'll be doing my favorite team, The San Francisco Giants!
So here it is. I used Wet n Wild Color Icon "give me a price quote" for the gold (crappy bottles, wth?!) and Sinful Color "dream on" for the purple. The purple is very intense and dries matte. Even with a top coat, the WnW gold is still really gritty feeling which I do not like at all - however it's a very awesome, textured gold.
These two colors were really great choices for a tape mani because the almost-neon "dream on" dried really quickly and the glitter dried quickly as well!

Nail Art Saturday
I'm new to nail art. This is my first attempt at nail art EVER. First, I love Star Wars. To my friends, that is no secret. I think Star Wars is amazing and easily one of the most epic series of movies ever. I decided for my first nail art attempt, I would do:
Storm Trooper Nails!
Storm Trooper Nails!
I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White for the white polish. It is my favorite white polish that I've used so far. The black was just a Wet n Wild black creme and I used a Sinful Colors nail art brush from this red bottle I bought recently. I just cleaned the brush off and am probably going to franken the red.
Be gentle. ROFL. Like I said, this is my first attempt and as dorky as they look, I'm in love with them! I took off all but two and am saving my two best fingers for my better half to see when he comes home from work. He'll probably just roll his eyes and turn on his XBOX. :)
I should add my middle finger is indented like that because my lens cap holder for my camera snapped off and smacked my finger! It still hurts 15 minutes later!
Well, what do you think? :)

Sinful Colors Amethyst
Today I am wearing Sinful Colors Amethyst. It's a very saturated grape-purple. I love these shades of purple more than the red based plum purples. This is a thick (but not too thick!) one coater. I love one coaters most of the time, especially when I'm in a hurry. Unlike most thick one coaters, I had no issue with bleeding when I used this polish. Sometimes (like with a few WnW) the polish just seeps into every crevice on my finger/nail bed and refuses to come out. Not this time!
Ignore the red residue. That's from the color club, it wouldn't come off!
Sinful Colors is a really great, affordable brand of nail polish. I love almost all their colors, the application is smooth and the brushes are a great happy place between thick and thin. Buy them while they're .99 cents at Walgreens. Even if you think you don't want it, just buy it! You can't go wrong for a dollar, people!

Nail Haul
I have two posts for you guys tonight. This one is my nail haul over the past two days and the other will be a swatch :D
If you enlarge the photos you can get a much better look at everything.
First photo from left to right:
Sinful Colors Island Coral, Amethyst, Unicorn
On top of the color club box: Sinful Colors bikini, Kissy, Cinderella, and Rise and Shine
Color club box: Untamed Luxury
Ulta: Tink-Her Bell, Pink Marble, Pinata-Yada-Yada
I have been unable to find color club anywhere. I went to a random Walgreen's last night and up by the make up counter were tons of these Color Club boxes for 9.99! I bought one and my mom bought me the other. They had a set of glitters (that looked..ehhh..) and then another set of mostly burgundy polishes. I was so surprised to see these. They looked like old stock because a lot of them were dried or separating. I should have asked to get those discounted. ;)
Anyway, there is my amazing and glorious nail haul from the past two days.

Sinful Colors: Nail Junkie
I have around 4 sinful colors but I'm only a fan of one. I posted a swatch of glass pink here and was not impressed with it. When I bought it, I didn't know it would be better for layering. That's just my mess up though, nothing to do with Sinful Colors.
I plan on buying A LOT more considering they're only sale for .99 cents at Walgreen's this week. Here is one I have that I absolutely love:
Nail Junkie
Tomorrow afternoon I'm leaving to go visit my mom for a week. I cannot wait to stop by CVS!

Nail Junkie
It's best to enlarge the photo so you can really see the beauty in this color. It's in a navy jelly base and has green, blue, and gold circular glitter particles in it. It's very beautiful. I have not worn this color on its own, just over black. If you stop at Walgreen's this week, pick up a bottle! I know I'll be hitting up every Walgreen's to try to find Cinderella, and I might buy Unicorn as well. I'll be around at least 6 Walgreen's this week. Oh that's...that's bad. ;)

Sinful Colors+Julep
Yesterday I went to Walgreen's and looked at their Sinful Colors display. They had this mini valentine's day display with a few pinks and dark reds. I picked up "Glass Pink". It's a sheer, glittery pink. I bought it with the intent on wearing it alone but quickly realized that it's best for layering. I looked through my collection and saw a Julep I just received in a swap: Carrie. I love creamy, bubble gum pinks.Unfortunately, the few I have are horrible formulas so I never wear them. Carrie is no different. She's thick and streaky. This is 4 coats, with Out the Door as a top coat.

This is "Glass Pink" layered over Carrie. Glass pink is sheer with some gold glitter in there. It looks really pretty in the bottle but for me it doesn't translate on the nails. I'm less than enthused. It isn't as pretty as I was hoping. These two colors will probably head to my "future giveaway" pile that I've started. :)
I should add, that I absolutely love 'Out the Door' and will be purchasing it again. I like it better than Seche Vite. I'm thinking about swapping my Seche Vites for Out the Door, so if you know anyone who would be interested in that, let me know! I have two unused Seche Vites.

What are your recommendations for a nice, bubble gum pink?
