Spring mani

I needed some happy color yesterday since it was so cloudy. I chose Essie turquoise and Caicos and floam for my accent nails. It looks like happy speckled Easter eggs to me!

I love the color of turquoise and Caicos but hate that it takes three coats. It dries amazingly shiny, though!

Line Practice

I was running out of ideas for manicures so my husband said I should do yellow with black lines. As I got started I began to envision different ideas. It didn't turn out at all as I had hoped. The only reason I'm posting this is because practice makes perfect!

Zoya Rainbow Gradient

Here's a Zoya Rainbow gradient. I love using Zoya in my rainbow manis. I used Breezi, Pippa, Keiko, Arizona, Gia and Meg

Glitter Bomb

This glitter bomb is so ridiculous, my camera didn't want to register that it exists. I used OPI I lily love you, Sinful Colors Hottie, NOPI Rainbow in the S-kylie and this pink sinful colors that looks like Hottie, but is pink and I don't have the name for.

I. Love. It. My camera does it no justice, in person it is so sparkly and amazing. It color shifts from blue to purple to orange depending on the light. It's very galactic looking.

More Zoya Lovely Nail Art - IKAT nails

This is my first attempt at Ikat nails. I love them every time I see them so I thought I'd try my hand at it. Clearly practice makes perfect with these so I'm anxious to try again and perfect my lines next time.

I used Zoya Jacqueline and Zoya Neely. I love that color combination! I think my favorite part is the accent nail - Neely on Jacqueline looks much better than Jacqueline on Neely.

..AND I have zoya rainbow toes! My love for Zuza will never die!

Zoya Lovely Nail Art

Here's some nail art I did yesterday with two of the Zoya Spring Lovely colors, Julie and Jacqueline. Later today I'm going to try my first attempt at IKAT nails...eek.

Sparkly polka dots

Base is OPI ds radiance, dots are zoya zuza and charla, and Essie trophy wife!

Mani+new favorite topcoat!

Leopard mani! Zoya Kennedy as the base with Milani teal sponged on for a gradient affect.

And my new favorite top coat?

NYC long wearing top coat! The shine is amazeballs and the dry top is fast. Bonus? It's .94 cents at target!

Pink camo!

Last night I felt very...creative? So I did pink camo! I've been obsessed with pink camo lately. I really like how these turned out -

I used zoya Shelby, zoya Lara, zoya kimber, maybelline tulip tango and sinful colors snow me white.

Watching diners, drive ins and dives made me hunnngrry...so I made a glitter sandwich!

Mini Frankenstein nails

The green is a sparkly green from icing by color club called "blast off". I used a dotting tool and a bobby pin for the little guys. They're so cute!

Rainbow nails

Does it look like little rainbows shooting from my fingertips? Because that's what I was aiming for.

PEWPEW!

I used: Zoya Gia, Arizona, Pippa, Breezi, Meg, and Kieko. The clouds are sinful colors snow me white. I just free handed the stripes, I didn't see the point in using tape for something like this because it would've drawn out the time by hours, easily.

Anyway. Clean up was a pain witih the clouds. And now you see why my pointer finger never makes it into photos. She's so jacked up looking, lol.

Intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic

I tried my hand at galaxy nails last night and can't say I was terribly successful...but it wasn't a huge fail, either. The pointer finger is the only one that really turned out so I took a separate photo of that one. I'm definitely going to be putting these back on the "try again" list. I didn't have a toothpick for my stars so they came out more like angry comets.

I used Sally Hansen Black Diamonds for my base and sponged on Zoya Creamy and Gia, Sinful Colors Snow me White, Nail Junkie, and Hottie, and Sally Hansen Loves me Not from the new 2012 Spring Runway Collection (WHICH IS AMAZING and I will be showing you this color alone later this week)

MEH. I did both hands but I can't really photograph both hands that well.

Floral Newsprint Nails

I love the look of floral nails and I've always wanted to try but never really got the gusto to do them until last night. I decided to try them over newsprint nails. My newsprint didn't show up very strong but I still like the look a lot. The flowers are relatively abstract, but hey..nail art is..art, it doesn't have to be perfect, just color in the lines (harharhar). I really do love these, and next time will be using maybe one or two more colors  for the flowers.

The clean up on this was...annoying. I always forget it's easier to clean up BEFORE adding seche vite on top.

I used Essie Sand Tropez for the base, Zoya Lara and Shelby for the flowers, and this mint green Color Club for the leaves. I used my dotting tools for all this. Unfortunately, after doing a sink full of dishes, this mani didn't make it past the 24 hour mark. Oh well, I have other plans for my nails anyway. )

Nail Art, Tape+Cheetah Print

I was browsing a nail art website and came across a photo titled "rockabilly nails". It inspired this mani. It didn't turn out as amazing as I had pictured, but practice makes perfect and I definitely loved wearing it.

I used Essie's Clambake for my red. A beautiful sheer red jelly. I love a good jelly. Then I taped off sections and painted Essie's Sand Tropez on top. Once that dried I painted on my cheetah print with Wet n Wild black creme and topped it all with Seche Vite.

Easter Nails

One of my Zoya Beach photos didn't turn out so I need to redo it. In the mean time, here is some easter nail art I did last night.

I started with Essie's Play Date, the white is Sinful Colors snow me white, the black is wet n' wild black creme, and the pink is Wet n Wild megalast candylicious. The silver whiskers are OPI DS Radiance. All topped with Seche Vite WHICH JUST LOVES TO POOL IN MY NAILS. SRSLY SECHE?

I didn't watermark them but like..homie, don't steal.

Nail Art, Mod?

I saw these nails and was inspired to do a mani similar. Mine took about two hours to complete. It doesn't look nearly as awesome as the photo that inspired me, but I still think it's cute. Very mod. It seems more of a winter mani, though. I'm taking it off today because I'm just not feeling it with this gorgeous weather we're having. Kind of a bummer considering how long it took me.

I hope the second photo showcases it decently. I had to enlist someone's help and they have no idea how to man a camera, at all.

Megan Miller Nail Art

Yesterday I showed you Megan Miller Velvet Lounge. Great eggplant purple, not so great with wear. I tried some 'flashy' (for me, anyway) tape nail art with it using Revlon Gold Coin.

gradient cheetah print

Last night I was browsing pinterest and came across this tutorial on a sponged gradient manicure. I love gradients, always have. They're just so pretty and sunset like.

I grabbed a make up sponge and went to town. I painted my nails with one coat of Essie's Topless & Barefoot. Then I painted three layers of the sponge with the colors I wanted: China Glaze For Audrey, Zoya Pippa, and some nameless pink Color Club. Then I sponged, reapplied the nail polish and sponged two more times. I should have followed the directions and started with a white base, but I didn't feel like dealing with the mess and patience that a white nail polish requires. White is definitely the way to go, though.

After a few easy sponge applications, I ended up with this:



As gorgeous and awesome as that looks...yeah, not what I was going for. It took me 30 minutes to clean that up, and I ended up with this:



Topped it with Out the Door, and continued on...



I used Spoiled Correction tape for the white and Wet n Wild black creme for the black. I used my dotting tools and topped it all with Seche Vite. I did my right hand as well, but I have a hard time trying to photograph it.



Things I learned:

1. Use tape, just like a water marble.
2. Use white as a base.

Glitter

Here is LA Girl Glitter "Purge" over Midori. It's a fun, really opaque glitter. Three coats and I think you would have full coverage.

And this is OPI Don't Mess with OPI. A very beautiful sage-green creme. No application problems, it's a beautiful, must have green!
