I love blue lagoon, it is a gorgeous, bright cobalt-ish blue with an almost jelly like finish. This is two coats. It dries smooth and quickly with no hiccups. Pop-arrazi is a great glitter topper. It reminds me of cutting up comic strips in newspapers. The shades of blue, black, yellow, red, and white really pop against blue lagoon.<br />
<br />
Here's just a quick and dirty swatch. I'll be thrifting for a camera here shortly. I sold mine last year for a 6 person tent, lol.<br />

I have worn Juniper Breeze since I was 8 years old. I used to steal country apple from my mother and she bought me my own Juniper Breeze. I've been in scent love ever since.<br />
<br />
Anyhow - for some reason these juicy tubes by Lancome popped into my head and I had to search for them. I distinctly remember this gorgeous hot pink shade that screamed poolside-summer. My mom was always at the make up counter looking for something reasonable with our meager military income. I always escaped to the Lancome counter and applied a juicy tube shade - every 12 year old needed the perfect pout, duh.<br />
<br />
Naturally, I went online and purchased one and am eagerly awaiting its arrival! Do you have any favorite throwback scents or make up that you purchase from amazon or ebay?<br />

You can read that <a href="http://www.thelacqueredalaskan.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/weight-loss-journey.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I realized just now I never updated anyone.<br />
<br />
So I continued on my exercise path. I ran twice a day, every other day. Sit ups, push ups, a lot of training where I used my own body weight as resistance. I started at almost 240lbs. I ended at 158lbs. I could fit into a size 8 jeans which never happened a day in my life.<br />
<br />
Then I got pregnant. Womp womp. LOL. Anyway - I'm still trying to exercise even when I'm too tired to do it. I'm not entirely successful with that yet. But, I haven't gained a terrible amount of weight, I can still wear my jeans they just won't button..and to be honest, that's a feat in itself because my other pregnancies I had to retire my jeans early because I couldn't even pull them up over my thighs!<br />
<br />
Anyway, just thought I would update :) If you're struggling with your weight loss or just need some inspiration, if my lazy butt did it, yours can as well!Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05885291663110547689noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1641572917747378452.post-86413299064477594722015-01-20T19:53:00.000-06:002015-01-21T12:03:53.035-06:00Zoya Spring 2015 Preview!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I usually shy away from lipstick because I personally feel (my own insecurities) that I cannot pull the look off. I did come to the realization that I prefer matte shades over a glossier lipstick. This is Wet n Wild "'cherry bomb". I bought it on sale at Walgreen's for 99 cents (a steal) and decided to try it out. I've always been a fan of a vampy lip.<br />
<br />
I started by applying a concealer to my lips for a base, and then lined and filled in my lips with a lip liner one shade darker than my lip color. I then applied the lipstick with my finger, pressing down like it was a stain. I applied one coat of a pressed foundation powder to my lips, and one more coat of lipstick. That is the best way I've found lipstick, especially of the more inexpensive variety, to have significantly more lasting power.<br />
<br />
On my face, I am wearing revlon nearly naked, and benefit sugar bomb blush. I used the too faced chocolate bar on my eyes and finished with an essence mascara!<br />

I attempted these once before, but instead of working with the dough myself I used a bread machine. This time around, I omitted the bread machine and went for good ole fashioned manual labor.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j121/jtiemens/6dc65876-c09a-4d8c-aa2f-452545d0cf6b_zps1f83ad9b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j121/jtiemens/6dc65876-c09a-4d8c-aa2f-452545d0cf6b_zps1f83ad9b.jpg" height="188" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Recipe:</span><br />
<br />
<b>Cinnamon Roll Dough</b><br />
<br />
4 cups all purpose flour <br />
½ cup + 2 tablespoons warm water (115 degrees)<br />
½ cup milk<br />
2 tablespoons sugar<br />
½ teaspoon salt<br />
1 large egg<br />
1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast<br />
4 tablespoons melted butter + 2 tablespoons<br />
Cinnamon to your personal tastes<br />
3/4 cup of brown sugar<br />
<b><br />Cream Cheese Frosting</b><br />
<br />
8 oz of cream cheese<br />
1/2 a 2lb bag of powdered sugar<br />
1/2 cup of butter<br />
1/2 cup of sour cream<br />
1 tsp of vanilla<br />
<br />
Instructions<br />
<br />
In a small bowl mix 2 tablespoons of warm water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and the yeast in a small bowl. Set aside until the yeast doubles in size. In a large bowl sift your flour and salt, then add your egg, milk, water, and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add your yeast and knead the dough for no more than five minutes. Spread a thin layer of oil on the top of the dough and cover with a damp kitchen towel for 20 minutes to rise.<br />
<br />
After your dough has risen, roll the dough into a large rectangle. Spread your melted butter on the dough (if you need more, go for more! It'll just be messy) and evenly spread your cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar all over. Roll into a log and cut into 12-14 1 inch slices. Place the slices of cinnamon rolls in a greased 9 x 13 pan (I like to sprinkle butter and brown sugar at the bottom of mine for an under layer of gooeyness) and let them rise again until they've doubled in size, or about 30 minutes.<br />
<br />
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on the edges. Let them cool for 15 minutes then generously frost and enjoy!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">What I learned....</span><br />
<br />
They turned out delicious and I learned a few things in the process:<br />
<br />
Make sure your water is the proper temperature when dissolving the yeast. If it's not warm enough, the yeast will not activate and you need it to at least double in size or your cinnamon rolls themselves will not rise like they should.<br />
<br />
It helps to have all of your ingredients room temperature. When you shock your yeast mixture with cold milk, cold water, et cetera, it stops the yeast from doing its job. Pull your eggs, milk, and butter out shortly before you start your cinnamon rolls.<br />
<br />
Do not overknead your dough. Five minutes should be enough. If you overknead the dough the end result will be tough cinnamon rolls instead of fluffy!<br />
<br />
Don't skimp on your innards! Make sure you have plenty of cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter to rub on the inside of your cinnamon rolls. It's the best part!<br />
<br />
Use floss to cut your cinnamon rolls - not a knife. Dental floss (or fishing line) provides a nice, clean cut and will not squish your cinnamon rolls.<br />

I have been absent for quite some time so I thought I would give an update and let you all know how things are going!<br />
<br />
I moved cross-country a month ago. I am pregnant with a third child and am still going strong in school - except my degree has changed to a bachelor's of science in aeronautics. I'm still outrageously obsessed with make up and have quite a few things I'm excited to share with you guys! I'm still coveting a naked palette (yeah, still).<br />
<br />
Other than that, life has been really smooth. I just recently ended a very arduous holiday break from school and decided to fire this baby back up and get back in the swing of things.<br />
<br />
Have a great day<br />

Tilda is a smooth cool toned lime green cream. It goes on perfect and opaque in two easy coats. I don't own anything like this color. I am a huge Seahawks fan so I am excited! Rocha is a bright tomato colored orange-red that's good in two coats. It's the perfect summer red.<br />
<br />
Here's the mani! You can buy the zoya summer collection at www.zoya.com for $9.00 a bottle. Stay tuned for more zoya summer manis!<br />
<br />
What do you guys think about Tilda?!<br />

My reds and teals. Holos and pastels. I can't wear any of it unless I'm off duty in my civilian clothes. Bummer.</p>
<p dir="ltr">But my make up? Ha! I've always been a fan of a neutral face so I am darn close to owning every shade of brown in cosmetic existence. So that I don't have to change! Lately, I'm loving wet n wild's bare it all lipstick. It sits matte on the lips and doesn't budge for a solid four hours on my lips. It's a fantastic nude shade! </p>

I had a baffling realization when I started a new job and had to order their uniform pants and shirts. <div><br></div><div>"What's your pant size?" </div><div><br></div><div>I don't know. Their sizes went by inseam and your waist in inches. I deliberately avoided stores like Vanity, and jeans like wrangler and levi because I didn't want to know. So I said I didn't know, let's try a 32 and a large shirt. I try that on and the shirt was so tight every time I sat down the bottom buttons would unsnap. The pants were a huge fail. I couldn't get them close to buttoning or pulling them up. </div><div><br></div><div>34? Nope.</div><div>36? Nope.</div><div>38? Nope.</div><div><br></div><div>I refused to put on a pair of pants with a 40 inch waist. So I begrudgingly put on my tight 38 inch pants. I stand at only 5'2". There was my moment of clarity. Why did I feel so depressed all the time? No energy, poor self esteem. My head was so displaced it affected my parenting abilities and I failed my college classes.</div><div><br></div><div>So I started walking two miles a every day because I couldn't even run a block. When I started in January I could not do one push up - not even a girl push up. My stomach was so big I couldn't do a sit up. I could struggle and finish five if I grunted and painted. By then I was sweating bullets with barely any work done. </div><div><br></div><div>I worked out every day. I cut out all processed sugar, fat, and carbs unless they came from vegetables. It sounds extreme and it was very difficult at first but with the help and support of my husband we found and created quite a few filling, healthy, and tasty recipes. We made healthy kung pao chicken and a simple green bean casserole. I'll post those recipes if anyone is interested. </div><div><br></div><div>And again - I kept working out always striving to make my body stronger. I started out in January walking an 18 minute mile. Then I progressed to running a block (as far as I could at the time) and walking in 16 minutes. I ran farther and felt better at a 12 minute mile but still needed more strength. More power. </div><div><br></div><div>I remember the day I ran a full mile without stopping. I felt like a beast. I might've yelled Adrien. I ran that mile in 8 minutes and 22 seconds. Never in my life have I ran an 8 minute mile. Even in high school during the presidential fitness parts of gym it was a 10 minute mile. I wish I could bottle that feeling of accomplishment up and mail jt to you all to open when you just feel beat down and tired. </div><div><br></div><div>I didn't step into a gym for any of this. I didn't take fancy classes, hire someone, step into a fad diet or buy expensive equipment.I didn't starve myself or over exert. It's me, my drive, my supportive husband. I go outside and I keep going. I feel so strong and so accomplished. I started at a weight of 232lbs and damn near a 40 inch waist. Now I weigh 180 and have lost 9 inches on my waist. I still have a ways to go but I'm so happy with how far I've come. Now none of my clothes fit and I look like a hobo LOL.</div><div><br></div><div>I will try to find some relevant before and after pictures. I hope I can be an inspiration to any one of you!</div>Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05885291663110547689noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1641572917747378452.post-90246332504122138402014-05-01T17:57:00.001-05:002014-05-01T17:57:49.234-05:00too facedRecently, HSN ran a great deal on the Too Faced chocolate bar palette. $29 shipped for the shadow palette and the full sized eyeshadow insurance!<br />
<br />
This is my first delve into pricier eyeshadows. I've purchased pricey blushes and foundation and mascara in the past, but never shadow for some reason and I hoard palettes like it's Y2K.<br />
<br />
I love neutrals and the consistency of the shadows in this palette are smooth and buttery. There's a little fallout but not significant and the color payoff for each shadow is satisfactory. The lasting power without the shadow insurance for me is 4 hours. I didn't see a difference with the shadow insurance - in fact I'm really not impressed with it. I prefer the shadow primer that comes in the NYC palettes, actually. With that shadow primer I easily get 10 hours of wear!<br />
<br />
Overall, I give the palette an 8.5/10. Colors and texture are great but I don't really understand the pink or purple here. I feel those are wasted spaces and the shadow insurance is a 2/10 for me. For whatever reason, on my skin it slips off and just doesn't work. I highly recommend the palette though. IT SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE!<br />
<br />
Here's a look I did using the too faced palette and wet n wild bare it all lipstick with gloss on top.<br />

I was receiving a lot of spam on the old facebook page and it was getting quite frustrating. I realized instead I'd just start over and create a new page instead of dealing with the same. My old name had a bit of old ties to it so I decided to pick something more ME. It's refreshing and I love it. I hope you all approve. The blog is the same, it's still me, just...a new me! A happier me.<br />

<br />
I love shopping thrift for quite a few reasons - mainly, I'm in between sizes since giving birth and am sooo not shelling out $80.00+ for a top that I don't intend on fitting me for more than a month or so. I do love shopping for jeans because I love that they're already a little broken in - on top of that fact that<br />
<br />
I've found some amazingly expensive Levi's and other designer jeans for around $4.00! You can't beat that. A few months ago, I found a MICHAEL Michael Kors hand bag! That's probably been my most exciting find. Are you kidding me? It was in this little rinky dink thrift store covered with old cookie jars and outdated, worn out cookware. But on this rack of purses hiding behind some old Payless-brand American Eagle bags was this supple black leather bag. Mine mine mine. I paid four dollars for that as well. I found a retro/vintage Wrangler pearl. I love these pearls. While they are men's, the retro ones are in more woman-like colors. Think of the time - 60s and 70s were full of faded reds and bright pastels, even on men. I wear these with a belt and some leggings and boots and call it a good day. The pearls fit perfect over my bust. I've unfortunately never had the satisfaction of finding a cute button up and walking away without a poor little button snapping off and shooting little Jimmy's eye out. The curse of Ds?<br />
<br />
Most recently I found a very stellar pair of black 80s Ariat cowboy boots for five dollars, and a pair of bad ass looking combat boots. They're black with this amazing looking hardware zipper on the back. Love them! And they're super warm, perfect for the impending nasty mid-west winter we're bound to have. If four and a half hours from me they already have 36" of snow...I'm doomed!<br />
<br />
What have been some of your most favorite/lucky/luxurious..or even down right weird thrift store finds?<br />
<br />
Stay tuned for a rather large...textually pleasing giveaway!Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05885291663110547689noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1641572917747378452.post-89301643915295005822013-09-23T13:51:00.004-05:002013-09-23T13:51:49.360-05:00Zoya Pixie DustI started playing around with a few of the zoya pixie dust colors and gravitated towards Arabella and Carter. I love Carter so much, it looks like a galaxy in the bottle!<br /><br />I've been out of the game for so long, clean up will go back to normal when I put Zenith up here.<br />
<br />
Look at those colors! They're so pretty. I love some of these pixiedust shades, they are so saturated and gorgeous.<br /><br />

Here is part two of the Zoya Summer 2013 collection, samples provided for review. These are six gorgeous foil metallic shades perfect for summer!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1c20GJ40Msu6MFQIgbYUMILt38DM0yPhhg0BdUVhUBQQKiwWlk6BiWelmaH5MIVHX-OSjZJ2UVm0c6E6-Zl9-TklNJKXrgSyoQC1Kj9ZGDtsQKJsKhs_Ou1rtoBMqCtZnu_4OgR9GUtpP/s1600/Untitled.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1c20GJ40Msu6MFQIgbYUMILt38DM0yPhhg0BdUVhUBQQKiwWlk6BiWelmaH5MIVHX-OSjZJ2UVm0c6E6-Zl9-TklNJKXrgSyoQC1Kj9ZGDtsQKJsKhs_Ou1rtoBMqCtZnu_4OgR9GUtpP/s640/Untitled.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Kerry is a true gold foil perfect in two coats - almost one if you do it right. Zoya has really impressed me with their gold shades this summer. First <a href="http://sun-driedlacquer.blogspot.com/2013/04/zoya-pixiedust-summer-edition.html">Solange</a>, then <a href="http://sun-driedlacquer.blogspot.com/2013/04/zoya-summer-stunning-collection.html">Darcy</a>, and now Kerry. I can't get enough of Kerry. Bottled sunshine on your nails!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Tinsley looks like she fits right in with Zoya Rica. A rosey pink that absolutely glows in the sun. In the shade she looks more like a dusty rose with a hint of gold. Tinsley, for me, had the thinnest formula out of all of them and required three coats.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRoLQG06un8om5awrvTxn0gDWQcxRM1UzqfWcqRHsf5UyuhGNFSmPJVagnBF-HrN3pWfHNyqVogL8MdGiiVdq1GvJ0S7fZhMHECBSJ03SuLqU1dEqeqC1xA4NnXSj7Mgh-4GNecywm_or_/s1600/DSCN4967.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRoLQG06un8om5awrvTxn0gDWQcxRM1UzqfWcqRHsf5UyuhGNFSmPJVagnBF-HrN3pWfHNyqVogL8MdGiiVdq1GvJ0S7fZhMHECBSJ03SuLqU1dEqeqC1xA4NnXSj7Mgh-4GNecywm_or_/s400/DSCN4967.JPG" width="361" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Amy is a deeply saturated burnt orange with gold shimmer. A great way to wear orange without the pumpkin-Halloween vibe. Almost a dead ringer for China Glaze Riveting, but Riveting has a bit more red to it in its base.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bobbi is an eye catching jewel toned magenta. My formula was a bit goopy but that could also be due to the random 80 degree day we had today. </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rikki is a metallic cool toned green. The zoya website describes it as a fern-green. Another pretty jewel tone. Not as bright or saturated as the rest but the coverage is phenomenal. This is two coats.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6XYePFD-rrncIcjXd-8bxGHw5SfoEvA52zEKP4GeF-aoLmtM5zH1m-bXzU3ZsGBMGn9L3e1jXfiJ3SILzQMPIMcdPdac-TGe69HQYFiNq08JKdhkfUV-r8hFePHdiEysziPZb2ZFBNeMN/s1600/DSCN4979.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6XYePFD-rrncIcjXd-8bxGHw5SfoEvA52zEKP4GeF-aoLmtM5zH1m-bXzU3ZsGBMGn9L3e1jXfiJ3SILzQMPIMcdPdac-TGe69HQYFiNq08JKdhkfUV-r8hFePHdiEysziPZb2ZFBNeMN/s400/DSCN4979.JPG" width="373" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hazel is unlike anything I own. It works for summer but I can also see it in a winter collection because it looks very icy and frosted over. It's a very unique, metallic steel blue shade. I think this would look great in a gradient with Zoya Marina. I also had some formula issues with this one, but</div>

There you have it! The second part of the Zoya summer collection for 2013. What are your thoughts? Any must haves for you? Hazel took me by surprise but my stand alone favorite is definitely Kerry. I don't own many yellows, and the ones I do are awful for formula and application.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can buy the summer collection at www.zoya.com for $8.00 each.</div>

Today I have one of my favorite drugstore brands of make up - NYC. I received their Glitter Liner in an influenster box awhile back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Show Time Black has a very smudge-able consistency to it. The black is a true black, not a brown-black or a blue-black, and has flecks of glitter in it. I haven't had any issues with fallout from the glitter, and it transfers very well to the skin. On the NYC website, these glitter liners are described as having a smooth and creamy texture which I agree with completely. I get at least eight hours of wear out of this eyeliner completely before it fades out. After four it starts to crease a little bit.</div>

It's great when I'm rushed or not in the mood for anything incredibly outstanding. It's a neutral look with just a few products I adore and can't live without these days!<br /><br />Being a mom, I've found it helpful to have a quick make up routine. I apply and go before my crazy three year old gets the urge to try her hand at all of "mommy's pretties". It's great for when I wake up late, or just want to throw my face on before I scare the neighbors. Do excuse my awful, pregnant swollen face. Ugh. The joy.<br /><br />

<br />I start with a clean face and apply a few dabs of Physician's Formula foundation. Once that is absorbed into my skin, I brush L'oreal infallible powder all over to cover any spots I missed and set the foundation. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can tell my favorite colors in the Nude palette LOL. I sweep a lighter shade all over my eyelid, and then blend the dark brown out and fill in the outer corner of my eyes with the darkest shade in the palette. I line the outer rims of my eyes with Ulta's gel eyeliner and smudge, then swipe a coat of Essence Mascara. My lips get my favorite nude gloss, sugar bomb! And finally benetint in rose on the cheeks to finish the look. All in all in takes me about ten minutes and I'm out the door. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today I have one half of the Zoya summer collection for you (products provided for review). These are six cremes in the Stunning collection and they truly scream summer fun. All the colors remind me of the flavors you get in ice pops. Yummmm...</div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I love ice pops. I've eaten an entire bag in like..two days. I'd like to blame it on the pregnancy but really I just have a Popsicle problem. Anyway - on to some of the happiest nail polish shades ever!<br />
<br />
Darcy: Hello, taxi cab yellow! This is bright and hands down the best yellow in terms of application I've ever used. I've owned a few neons, pastels, and everything in between. I also own zoya Pippa and this is leaps and bounds better. Below is two coats and it is soo sunshine-out-the-bum bright.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Josie: The perfect sky blue! It's very delicate but still vibrant and has enough punch for the perfect summer blue. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Micky: (get it out of your system..) OH MICKY YOU'RE SO FINE YOU'RE SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND HEY MICKY.<br />
<br />
Okay. This is a gorgeous, juicy watermelon shade of pink. It took a lot of will power not to eat my fingers. Though it takes a lot for me not to devour most things these days.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX7pMs3FG4O-0wNNh-m6FchHmjxMKzlaD4UdtccFI9xDZkavAU5Ul4WY3i0horns93dbp9k5JlAkIIYeXQW7y2A6dW5IDNkYHANpX_5BDpuzzwySd2jmyaEuzPETz0WZ266ZF80Q3eXQlY/s1600/mickey.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="370" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX7pMs3FG4O-0wNNh-m6FchHmjxMKzlaD4UdtccFI9xDZkavAU5Ul4WY3i0horns93dbp9k5JlAkIIYeXQW7y2A6dW5IDNkYHANpX_5BDpuzzwySd2jmyaEuzPETz0WZ266ZF80Q3eXQlY/s400/mickey.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Rocky: a sweet, grassy green. I don't own any shades like this and I've wanted to. All my greens are mint or army green, so this is a lovely addition and a great spring to summer transition color. It's not too bright and it's fairly neutral in terms of green.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkF8VNcUlLwx7ufmPMZj3_Su1Jcdrg_bTdUjNKbkcyVnoE00PMCKvxQ8eZsl72hyphenhyphenlf_uxKqff5OKR-3cuLjiYblo2O2B70URJTtDxMaRtqUAlhfPPn-9Ls3meRY7g6I-uJAcotoyx7iKPW/s1600/rocky.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkF8VNcUlLwx7ufmPMZj3_Su1Jcdrg_bTdUjNKbkcyVnoE00PMCKvxQ8eZsl72hyphenhyphenlf_uxKqff5OKR-3cuLjiYblo2O2B70URJTtDxMaRtqUAlhfPPn-9Ls3meRY7g6I-uJAcotoyx7iKPW/s400/rocky.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Thandie: a bright peach shade. This is the only color in the collection to give me any application issues. The other five shades apply smooth in two coats. This required three to cover up streaks. However, I still cannot wait to rock it with a nice summer tan!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWByjaLsJ61RmF3Kq-VCFQ82qzIsgbc5EK7P6Kw6h00nsfsLBpbRBaNM687QAUFINICEElOkQXLC5ZHmfWxbOVQ8abPzEK81aWLoAUcXQ468Xvf1B3bDeFQ6VlknKZfpQXOr0p8d1A5WBF/s1600/thandie.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWByjaLsJ61RmF3Kq-VCFQ82qzIsgbc5EK7P6Kw6h00nsfsLBpbRBaNM687QAUFINICEElOkQXLC5ZHmfWxbOVQ8abPzEK81aWLoAUcXQ468Xvf1B3bDeFQ6VlknKZfpQXOr0p8d1A5WBF/s400/thandie.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Yana: a bright fuschia-pink. A great borderline neon color for when you want something bright but not incredibly in your face.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've worn glasses since the third grade. Naturally it helped kids ridicule the heck out of me. Now glasses are the cool thing to wear. Go figure!<br />
<br />
Today I have a list of beauty tips and tricks I've learned over the years that I hope will help you in your make up application.<br />

Forgo the contacts and let's get started!<br />
<br />
-Beware of gray shades and cooler shades in general. They can cast shadows causing<br />
an awful 'zombie' look and downplay your eyes. Stick with warmer shades to help open up your eyes and avoid looking like you haven't slept in a week.<br />
<br />
- You can always keep it simple - a few coats of mascara, concealer under your eyes, and a punch of bright lipstick is a great way to emphasize one feature and but still keep your eyes looking gorgeous.<br />
<br />
-Groom and shape your eyebrows! Naturally, glasses draw attention to your eyes, so keep<br />
your eyebrows shaped. Start by plucking any stray hairs, then apply a cream shadow or brow liner and blend it in with a brush to avoid looking like you painted on your eyebrows. <br />

<br />
I love the E.L.F. brow kit and the N.Y.C brow kit. Both are very affordable ringing in at under $5, and easily accessible at any drugstore or super-store.<br />

<br />
-Glasses can make your eyes appear smaller than they truly are. Reflection from the lenses is the culprit.<br />
To combat this, define your eyes with liner on the top lashline. Gauge thickness by the thickness of your frames - a thicker frame calls for a thicker line. A smaller frame, or frameless glasses call for a softer, more subtle line. You can still rock the liquid eyeliner, just pay attention to the thickness of your frames to look the most polished.<br />
<br />
-Add a light colored eyeshadow or liner to the innermost corner of your eye. This will widen your peepers<br />
and help fight the reflection that glasses cause. I like to use any white eyeliner I have on hand, which is generally this Wet n Wild. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
-Avoid super shimmery eye shadows. The glitter catches light and will reflect more in your lenses taking away from your face and magnifying any flaws in your application, or eye area in general. I've been able to use the Maybelline color tattoos with no issues because they aren't necessarily packed with glitter, although they do have a bit of shimmer to them. I use barely branded every day and it has yet to cause any issues. The shadows that generally give me problems are the ones with massive fallout in the first place.<br />
<br />
-Pay extra attention to mascara. Mascara is great for helping your eyes stand out behind frames, but make sure it's dried completely before you put on your glasses. Nothing looks worse than a few black lash marks on your lenses! I can't tell you how many times that happened to me in junior high.<br />
<br />
Those are a few things I've learned over the years, I hope they helped. If you have any tips yourself, feel free to comment! I'd love to learn a new thing or two!<br />
